🛡️ Iron Angel Maltese: Immune Health & Vaccination Protocol

At Iron Angel Maltese, the long-term health of our show-quality bloodlines is our priority. Because toy breeds are significantly more susceptible to Vaccinosis (adverse reactions to vaccines), we require a conservative, spaced-out protocol based on the Dr. Jean Dodds Protocol.

⚠️ CRITICAL: STAMP OF VOIDANCE

The Iron Angel Health Guarantee is immediately rendered NULL and VOID if the following occurs:

1. Multiple Vaccines (Combo/Cocktail Shots): The puppy is administered any "combo" vaccine (e.g., 5-way, 7-way, DHLPP) containing more than two antigens at once.

2. Concurrent Vaccinations: The puppy receives a Rabies vaccine on the same day as any other vaccination. There must be a minimum of 3 weeks between a Distemper/Parvo shot and a Rabies shot.

3. Vaccination During Surgery: The puppy is vaccinated on the same day as their spay/neuter surgery or any other medical procedure requiring anesthesia.

The Jean Dodds Protocol (Our Requirement)

We advocate for "Minimum Effective Doses" to provide protection without overwhelming the immune system.

• 9–10 Weeks: Distemper + Parvovirus (MLV) only.

• 14–15 Weeks: Distemper + Parvovirus (MLV) only.

• 18 Weeks: Distemper + Parvovirus (MLV) only.

• 20 Weeks or Older: Rabies (Given as a single entity).

Titer Testing vs. Over-Vaccination

Once the initial puppy series is complete, we strongly recommend Titer Testing every three years. A Titer is a simple blood test that measures your dog's existing antibody levels.

• If the Titer is Positive, your dog is immune and a booster is medically unnecessary and potentially harmful.

• Over-vaccination can lead to chronic allergies, skin issues, and autoimmune disorders—risks that are magnified in the Maltese breed.

Safe Administration Tips

• Request Single Antigens: Ask your vet for "Monovalent" vaccines (Distemper and Parvo separately or as a 2-way only).

• Pre-treatment: We recommend discussing a dose of Benadryl with your vet 30 minutes prior to any injection to mitigate acute allergic reactions.

• Observation: Monitor your puppy for 24 hours after any shot for swelling, lethargy, or respiratory distress.

Buyer Acknowledgment

I understand that following a crowded or aggressive vaccination schedule contrary to the Iron Angel Protocol will forfeit all health guarantees provided by the Breeder.
